Southern Avenue is a dynamic roots, blues, and soul collective out of Memphis, TN, formed in 2015. Fronted by singer‑songwriter Tierinii Jackson and featuring her sisters Tikyra (“T.K.”) and Ava Jackson, along with guitar virtuoso Ori Naftaly (born in Israel) and a tight rhythm section, the band fuses gospel‑tinged harmonies, slabby blues guitar, soul and vibrant grooves into a sound that feels both timeless and urgent.
Within a year of forming, they made waves by being the first Memphis band signed to the newly reformed Stax Records in 2016—reviving a deep legacy of soul and blues in their hometown. Their 2017 self‑titled debut album soared to #1 on iTunes’ Top Blues Albums and was awarded Best Emerging Artist Album at the 2018 Blues Music Awards.
They didn’t slow down: their 2019 album Keep On was critically acclaimed, cracked the top 5 on Billboard’s Blues charts, and brought them a GRAMMY nomination for Best Contemporary Blues Album. Their third full‑length Be The Love You Want (2021) earned praise for its soul power and danceability, and their live show reputation has only grown.
Southern Avenue has been nominated several times for Band of the Year at the Blues Music Awards, reflecting their rise in the blues & soul world. They’ve toured extensively across North America and Europe (and beyond), performing major festivals and supporting major artists.
In 2024, they announced their signing with the storied Alligator Records. Their 2025 album Family reflects both their musical roots (recorded at Royal Studios in Memphis, produced by GRAMMY‑winner John Burk, engineered by Boo Mitchell) and their growth as songwriters and performers. With standout singles like “Upside,” “Found A Friend In You,” and their reinterpretation of Genesis’s “That’s All,” Southern Avenue continues to expand their influence, drawing acclaim, radio airplay, and new audiences worldwide.
